State of Caring 2025: The cost of caring
Carers UK has released it’s annual report on the State of Caring Survey for 2025
Carers UK today launched the State of Caring 2025: The cost of caring – the impact of caring across carers’ lives. Over 10,500 carers took part in this year’s survey, helping to shine a spotlight on the true cost of caring.
The report reveals the enormous pressures that carers continue to face:
- Half are providing more hours of care than last year.
- Nearly half are cutting back on essentials like food and heating.
- Many are struggling to balance caring with work.
- Three quarters are worried about their future financial security.
Carers UK are using this evidence to call for a fairer settlement for carers, including better financial support, stronger workplace rights, more respite, and a fully funded National Carers Strategy.
