Who is a Carer?

Carers are people who look after family members, partners or friends who are in need of help because they have an illness or health condition, or are frail, have a disability or mental health or substance misuse issues.

For some people, becoming a carer may be a gradual process, for others it may happen overnight.  Whatever the circumstances, it is important that carers are recognised and supported.

Carers help and support other people in many ways.
