We have been made aware of a scam that may be using the Warm Homes programme name. The incident involved an older person who is believed to have received a letter that appeared to come from Age UK asking for bank details to pay in a Warm Homes Discount/Winter fuel payment.

If you or someone you know receives a letter, please remember:

•Age UK does not pay out Warm Homes Discounts (WHD) or Winter Fuel Payments.
•People eligible for Core Group WHD will have already been contacted by DWP if they are eligible.
•DWP also pays the Winter Fuel Payment
•If a person is part of the Broader Group for WHD, they must apply to their energy supplier and the discount will be a rebate on their energy bill. The energy company will never contact the person offering the WHD. ... See more
